(What Grandma Told Grandpa
When He Came Back From the War)
A century ago, a young mother gave a tough love ultimatum to her shell-shocked, war-weary, and out of control soldier/husband.
At the end of World War One, a soldier came home from war with severe PTSD. He was acting out with drink, and gambling, and carousing, and outbursts — he was out of control. The patience of the young wife ran out after a while. The only way to save his life and hers was to help him see his need, and identify the destructive actions so that he could take control again. My Grandma’s own story — ending with a 50 year wedding anniversary.
