6. Eversong
(It never ends)
A Christian song of praise to Jesus, inspired from the Bible in the Book of the Revelation, chapter four and five.
So... I am listening to the Shari Lewis kids show on TV, and “Lamb Chop” begins to sing “This is the song that never ends…it goes on and on my friend….” The song is structured so it folds itself back to the beginning, ready to be repeated—until you pray you can get the darn thing out of your head.
So I think (I know, I know), as a Jesus believer, what if instead of a sock puppet lamb singing her song that never ends, I were to write a song that never ends to the Lamb of God. This song has been recorded as Folk, Americana, and Country styles. This cut on this album is Reggae, for its great beat. As a linguist, I studied the Jamaican Creole dialect. I found very broad and varied patois and jargon in varied singing styles (from “high” to “common” pronunciations). This is an amalgam of words and phrasings from that study, chosen for their sonic value.
